We haven't broken the pipes, but we may have degraded the water. We are potentially populating the <TownName> tag with Street data. Again, the payment might technically flow, but the data quality—which is the entire point of ISO 20022—is degraded. When the business eventually tries to use AI for fraud detection or customer insights, they will find the dataset is incomplete. We are stripping away the rich context that ISO 20022 was designed to provide. The Future Cost: Conclusion: Connectivity vs. Integrity We must stop confusing "Connectivity" with "Integrity." Just because a bank can send and receive an MX message does not mean the migration is a success. If the architecture relies on truncating names, guessing addresses, and dropping parties, it is technically compliant, but functionally compromised. The migration is not "over."
